How to Identify the Television That Does Not Hurt the Eyes

As soon as we get home, we often like to stay with the television read the news, watching TV, and watching the game! What is the most important thing about watching TV? Of course, it is to see clearly without hurting the eyes!

If you walk around the supermarket of home appliance for a circle, you will know: the status of TV, the eldest child among home appliances, would be very clear! 37-inch, 42 inch, 47 inch, or 52 inch? Flat panel, plasma, or LCD? Green healthy , no flash , high definition ? Which one is really good for the eyes?

1. Visual comfort degree

Are you comfortable when watching? The easiest way is to let our eyes speak for themselves! Is the light of the screen soft? Is the picture fine? Is layering clear? As for these complex issues, in fact, as long as you stare at the screen for a while, the eyes will tell you!

2. Dynamic definition

Is it clear when the picture moves? Note the clarity of the dynamic picture; for example, when watching Liu Xiang running, or the intense F1 race, you can pay particular attention to the picture moving in the vertical direction, if these images are clear and smooth, there is no short-term blurring, and that when we watch not blink of an eye, the eye will not fatigue.

3. Contrast

Is the brightness contrast prominent? If a TV looks gray , so you think of annoying dust weather, it shows that its contrast is so bad, this will look better to some doing, the health of the eyes is also very unfavorable.

4. The brightness

Is the picture pretty enough to be amazing? We have just said the TV of the poor contrast will hurt the eyes, but the TV with too high brightness can also cause the same consequences. If you find the pictures displayed on this TV screen very bright, and even make you feel unreal, then you can give it up, because this unreal beauty not only make eyes more vulnerable to fatigue, but also increase energy consumption of the television, interfering with our LOHAS principles.

5. The viewing angle

Is there any deformation from some angles? Viewing angle can also affect eye health. If the viewing angle is small, there will be distortion phenomenon of the picture being seen from somewhere. Overtime, it can not only cause eye fatigue, but also affect the eye focus function.

What is the most important thing in the game playing? You may guess gold. You are right. Tory will tell you several good place to make

US unemployment rate reaches 9.8%

US unemployment rate reaches 9.8%

Friday, October 2, 2009

Companies in the United States are shedding more jobs, pushing the country’s unemployment rate to a 26-year high of 9.8%.

The US Labor Department said on Friday that employers cut 263,000 jobs in September, with companies in the service industries — including banks, restaurants and retailers — hit especially hard. This is the 21st consecutive month of job losses in the country.

The United States has now lost 7.2 million jobs since the recession officially began in December 2007. The new data has sparked fears that unemployment could threaten an economic recovery. Top US officials have warned that any recovery would be slow and uneven, and some have predicted the unemployment rate will top 10% before the situation improves.

“Continued household deleveraging and rising unemployment may weigh more on consumption than forecast, and accelerating corporate and commercial property defaults could slow the improvement in financial conditions,” read a report by the International Monetary Fund’s World Economic Outlook, predicting that unemployment will average 10.1% by next year and not go back down to five percent until 2014.

Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s, said that “it’s a very fragile and tentative recovery. Policy makers need to do more.”

“The number came in weaker than expected. We saw a lot of artificial involvement by the government to prop up the markets, and now that that is starting to end, the private sector isn’t yet showing signs of life,” said Kevin Caron, a market strategist for Stifel, Nicolaus & Co.

Also on Thursday, the US Commerce Department said factory orders fell for the first time in five months, dropping eight-tenths of a percent in August. Orders for durable goods — items intended to last several years (including everything from appliances to airliners) — fell 2.6%, the largest drop since January of this year.

The US government has been spending billions of dollars — part of a $787 billion stimulus package — to help spark economic growth. There have been some signs the economy is improving.

The Commerce Department said on Thursday that spending on home construction jumped in August for its biggest increase in 16 years. A real estate trade group, the National Association of Realtors, said pending sales of previously owned homes rose more than 12 percent in August, compared to August 2008.

A separate Commerce Department report said that consumer spending, which accounts for more than two-thirds of US economic activity, rose at its fastest pace in nearly eight years, jumping 1.3 percent in August.

Other reports have provided cause for concern. A banking industry trade group said Thursday the number of US consumers making late payments, or failing to make payments, on loans and credit cards is on the rise. A survey by a business group, the Institute for Supply Management, Thursday showed US manufacturing grew in September, but at a slower pace than in August when manufacturing increased for the first time in a year and a half.

Stock markets reacted negatively to the reports. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 41 points in early trading, reaching a level of 9467. This follows a drop of 203 points on Thursday, its largest loss in a single day since July. The London FTSE index fell 55 points, or 1.1%, to reach 4993 points by 15.00 local time.

Wigs: The Good, The Bad And The Ridiculous

By Michael Barrows

While many people purchase a wig to change their style or to create a dramatic look for a special night, others wear wig hairpieces on a daily basis to conceal thinning hair or to cover baldness resulting from an illness. But no matter why you choose to wear a wig, there are a few things that you should keep in mind before you purchase one and incorporate wigs into your style.

There are many different types of wigs available and they can range from being inexpensive to extremely expensive. For the most part, the old saying, “you get what you pay for,” is true when it comes to purchasing wig hairpieces. The more you spend, the higher quality wig you’ll get in return. And a higher quality hairpiece means that it will remain beautiful versatile for years to come.

Perhaps the most deciding factor that will help you decide how much to spend on your wig is how you are going to use it. If you are only going to use your wig occasionally for special events, you may be able to get by with an inexpensive wig. But since most inexpensive wigs are made with synthetic hair, it is almost impossible to match them up with your existing hair color or to achieve a truly natural look. Inexpensive wig hairpieces are also not finely wefted. That means that more hair is sewn into one weft of the wig instead of distributed throughout the wig evenly resulting in a baby doll hair look if you’re not careful.

Other things to consider before you go by an inexpensive wig, is how you are going to style the hairpiece. Synthetic hair cannot be colored, permed or curled with thermal tools. So, your styling and change-out options with an inexpensive wig are limited.

All of these drawbacks make the natural-hair wig your best bet especially if you wear a wig on a daily basis. While this hairpiece may be a little more expensive, you can color it, cut it and curl it just like you would your own hair because it is real hair. Wig hairpieces made with natural hair also look more natural in sunlight and under certain lights than do wigs made with synthetic hair strands.

Even natural hair wigs, though, come with a wide variety of prices. The prices vary according to quality and length of the hair used and the craftsmanship of the hairpiece itself. Again, you get what you pay for.

If you plan to wear your wig daily, you should also look for wig hairpieces that are light and finely woven. The wig should allow a good amount of air to circulate through the wig and onto your scalp. This is not only for your own comfort but for the well being of your own hair. Tight and constrictive wigs can cause friction and cut off the blood supply to your scalp resulting in hair loss.

So, before you buy a wig, investigate all of your options carefully. Choosing a good wig now may save you money in the end because you will probably never have to replace it.

Muslim hair stylist sues hairdresser over alleged discrimination

Muslim hair stylist sues hairdresser over alleged discrimination

Friday, November 9, 2007

British-born Muslim hair stylist Bushra Noah is currently undertaking legal action against the owner of a hair salon for alleged religious discrimination. Noah is suing London hair salon owner Sarah Desroiser. Desroiser who runs a salon in King’s Cross, has said that she would not accept Noah as a stylist if Noah’s hair was covered. Noah, like many devout Muslims keeps her hair covered in public places, believing it to be immodest otherwise.

Noah claims that her headscarf is a fundamental part of her religious beliefs and that wearing the scarf would not interfere in her carrying out the job at all. Desrosiers said that it is not discrimination but rather that “the essence of my line of work is the display of hair. To me, it’s absolutely basic that people should be able to see the stylist’s hair. It has nothing to do with religion. It is just unfortunate that for her covering her hair symbolises religion.” Desosiers added that she had worked with Muslims in the past and employs a Muslim accountant.

Noah claims that the state of her own hair is irrelevant to her ability to style others hair.

The last few years have seen a string of similar cases in Britain. Last year, there was a case over whether a British Airways employee could wear a prominent cross, and another case in which a teacher argued that she had a right to wear a Jilb?b (a traditional Islamic dress that covers almost the entire body) in the classroom. In that case, the teacher lost in the High Court.

Political pundits debate Fred Thompson’s younger wife

Political pundits debate Fred Thompson’s younger wife

Saturday, July 14, 2007

Political analysts widely regard Fred Thompson as a potential, if not likely, candidate in the United States presidential election in 2008. Thompson is a lawyer, lobbyist, character actor and former Republican Senator for Tennessee now residing in McLean, Virginia near Washington D.C.

A recent article in The New York Times (NYT) labelled his wife, Jeri Kehn Thompson as a “trophy wife” and a potential liability in the 2008 race. The NYT article described her as having “youthfulness, permanent tan and bleached blonde hair” and wonders if “so-called values voters” would “accept this union.”

Thompson and Kehn, married in June 2002, when he was 60 years old and she 35.

Television commentator and former Republican congressman Joe Scarborough compared Kehn to a stripper and asked if “she works the pole.”

According to the Associated Press, “trophy wife” originally “meant the second (or third) wife of a corporate titan, a woman who was younger, beautiful and — equally important — accomplished in her own right.”

ABC News says that the current definition of “trophy wife” suggests Donald Trump‘s ex-wife Marla Maples and the late Anna Nicole Smith as examples.

However, ABC News also questions whether Kehn fits this definition. “Though she’s blond, beautiful and nearly 25 years younger than her husband, Kehn Thompson, a political media consultant who previously worked for the Senate Republican Conference and a prestigious Washington law firm, doesn’t appear to fit the typical description,” wrote Emily Friedman.

Karen O’Connor, a political scientist and the director of the Women & Politics Institute at American University, said Thompson may lose support from Republican women, a group he needs. It may also make it difficult to gain the support of the “value voters”, already skeptical after the report that he lobbied for an abortion-rights group.

“You have a situation where a candidate happens to have an attractive wife, therefore it’s open season for smutty thoughts and lowbrow humor, and no concern for the fact that this is a wife and mother, a professional woman?” said Mark Corallo, a former Justice Department official who is a consultant and the chief media adviser to the Thompson campaign. “One picture on the Internet and all of a sudden she’s reduced to being a bimbo?”

Alcohol: What It Does To The Brain?}

Submitted by: Phillip Ryan

Our brain is the organ responsible for processing the information gathered by our five senses, such as seeing, hearing, touching and tasting. There have been numerous reports from substance abuse rehabilitation centers that alcohol affects brain and body tremendously.

Alcohol alters the brain directly by affecting the levels of neurotransmitters and its natural chemistry. Neurotransmitters are chemical messengers in the brain that transmits signals throughout the body and controls the process of emotion, thinking and behavior. According to medical experts at alcohol treatment center, alcohol affects both the excitation and inhibitory neurotransmitters.

Substance abuse rehabilitation centers reported many cases of patients that experienced difficulty in walking, slurred speech, blurred vision, and impaired judgment after consuming large amounts of alcohol in just one night of partying.

Alcohol abuse and addiction remain a hot topic in most of rehabilitation center. An individual consuming this substance after one or two drinks can exhibit negative effects of what alcohol can do to the body and brain. So what more if a person continuously consumes it?

This substance can act as both a depressant and a stimulant, depending on how a persons system metabolizes the substance. Some may feel sleepy after drinking a few bottles while others become more energetic and may act violently when things get out of their control. Most of the time people under the influence of the substance engaged in dangerous behavior such as driving at high speed, fights and other acts that disobey the law.

Long term drinking may lead to brains deficiency and shrinking. In the long run the brain will have a hard time in processing information and can also affect how the body feels that often leads to muscle dysfunction.

Overcoming alcoholism can be a long battle, as a person becomes totally dependent to the substance. Most of the patients at treatment centers struggle to achieve a life of sobriety. Sometimes it is not enough to just have willpower to quit. It often requires help from the experts.

Alcoholics are not all alike and experience different degrees of negative effects and impairment. A good alcohol treatment center must be able to consider a various type of treatment methods depending on the period of how long the substance was abused. Moreover, medical experts at alcohol treatment center must be able to monitor the course and progress of the treatment.

Recovering from substance addiction is a process and often involves setbacks. Finding a right rehabilitation center is the key to experience a sober life. Relapsing doesn’t mean that you have to give up, think of it as it is an opportunity to recommit to a rehabilitation treatment and challenge yourself for having a brighter future ahead.

Athletes prepare for 2012 Summer Paralympics at the Paralympic Fitness Centre

Athletes prepare for 2012 Summer Paralympics at the Paralympic Fitness Centre

Monday, August 27, 2012

London, England — As Paralympians ready for the Games which are set to open later this week, they have access to a world class fitness center inside the Paralympic Village which is designed to maximise their pre-Game preparations.

According to volunteers staffing the center, instead of being a single large room, as in Beijing, the building has numerous rooms. It, along with the adjacent Village Services Centre, is designed to be converted into a school after the games conclude. Rooms have been structured as a gym, an auditorium, and science laboratories.

Gym equipment is supplied by Technogym, an Italian firm that has supplied gym equipment for the Olympics since 2000. Equipment has been provided not just for for the Fitness Centre, but for gyms at all the Olympic venues. The newest equipment is oriented toward maximum flexibility, allowing athletes to exercise the particular muscles that they most require for their sport.

In addition to the equipment, the Fitness Centre also provides instructors trained in the use of the equipment, the likes of which athletes from many countries have never seen before. There are also a number of instructors available to provide motivational training.
